Wearable Architecture: The Borujerdiha House Ring

A Unique Fusion of Persian Architecture and Jewelry Design

Designed by Somayeh Kianpour, the Borujerdiha House ring is a stunning piece of wearable architecture, inspired by the historic city of Kashan and its architectural marvel, the Broujerdi House. This article delves into the unique properties, design process, and the cultural significance of this award-winning design.

The Borujerdiha House ring is more than a piece of jewelry; it's a wearable piece of Persian architecture. Inspired by the Broujerdi House, a landmark of Persian residential architecture in the city of Kashan, the ring embodies the unique features of the house, including its wind-catcher and light entrances. The ring's design, with black enamel symbolizing shadow and Persian motifs on the other side, reminds the wearer of the windows that let light enter the house. The gold color of the ring is reminiscent of the desert and Iranian architecture in desert towns.

Creating the Borujerdiha House ring was a meticulous process. The design was first created using Matrix, a 3D jewelry design software. The ring was then made from 18k gold and weighs approximately 6.00 grams. The design incorporates color enamel, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to the piece. The ring is part of the Wearable Architecture collection, which is inspired by Persian architectural artworks.

The ring's design is not just about aesthetics; it's about creating a connection between the wearer and Persian culture. The simplicity of the design makes it easy to wear daily, while its exclusivity brings pleasure and satisfaction. The rich cultural background of the ring allows the wearer to feel more confident and encourages them to delve deeper into their cultural heritage.

The design process for the Borujerdiha House ring began in July 2014 and was completed in January 2018 in Tehran, Iran. The project was not exhibited before the A' Design Award Competition. The ring was awarded Silver in the A' Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award in 2019, a testament to its outstanding design and innovation.

In conclusion, the Borujerdiha House ring is a remarkable fusion of architecture and jewelry design. It is a testament to the rich architectural heritage of Iran and the creative genius of its designer, Somayeh Kianpour. The ring is not just a piece of jewelry, but a wearable piece of history, culture, and architectural brilliance.
